if you came or attempted to come to our video premiere at bear country last month, you know that it got shut down by the police before midnight which really sucked. we were planning to go on all night. we had live bands. we had three djs. we had live comedy lined up. we had a ton of booze. anyway, being that it was ruined and a lot of people never even got in the door, i needed to re-do the party. here are all the details:

first of all, can you say budget? i was asked to do a flyer and i had zero time to do it so this is what it looks like haha:

i had a little more time to work on this one. but not much. and poor emma was bored as fuck and fiending for scotch watching me do it:

also - the re-do of our premiere party that got shut down by the cops last weekend will be december 26th at dingbatz. one of the original bands can't play (njdots) so i am working on a line-up as we speak. right now its looking like cough, fleshtemple and mcrad, but that's not set in stone quite yet. i should have all the final details in the next week or so. most likely the rundown will be an 8pm-10pm open bar. video showing at 9pm and bands starting around 10-10:30pm. i believe it will be something like $30 bucks for the 8-10 open bar and show and either 8 or 10 bucks if you come after 10pm just for the show. we will have dvd copies of the video for sale along with a bunch of other division east merch and possibly the debut of my t-shirt line (if i can finalize the artwork and get them printed in time). i will be mass circulating an official flyer and facebook invites as soon as everything is finalized.

so unless you live under a rock, you knew friday was our video premiere. the night started off pretty awesome. my boy marx was killin it on the tables. party was jumpin off for a few hours. from our estimates, we had well over 200 people there. the kid who's spot it is said he thought it was pushing 300. it was packed to say the least. but as per usual, the cops came and the party was done by midnight. we got to show a stimulus promo, a sureshot promo and the division east video once before the pork chop patrol arrived. the cops were actually cool, and just wanted it to clear out a little bit, but the whole party left when they saw the lights. i was all over the place and only managed to get a handful of pictures, two being some dope reflections of the police lights haha.







the video came out really sick. we have copies for sale at division east currently.

one of the many things i completely wasted my time and effort on over the last month or so.

fucked.

so i know i haven't been posting much recently. and people have actually hit me up asking why. i have been a busy boy. i've been working on this division east dvd layout non-stop. but naturally, we have to totally scrap the title due to a conflict of interest with some associates. i made all this sick cover art and a logo and a ton of other shit and it just fucking figures that after i put all this time and effort into something, it turns to total shit and i am back at ground fucking zero. that's been happening to me a lot lately. i gotta start a whole new concept and artwork for this dvd now, which will be taking up a lot of my time this weekend and next week. next week i'm gonna post some of the artwork that i had to scrap on this project so far. i was really siked on it. anyways, here's some random shit that i've collected in the past couple weeks. suck it.

obsession.

been heavy grinding lately. all kinds of print and web work. for starts i finally finished a long running project for my homegirl tara. she does writing, producing, directing and voice-overs for the likes of such channels as VH1, Syfy, IFC, Food Network, TBS and a ton of others. basically she wanted a fairly plain and simple website, and we went back and forth since early this year with design concepts and changes, etc. so the final product is finally done and it will definitely blow up my spot and get me some major exposure which i am fully stoked on.

next up is this major dvd release i am doing for division east. title is going to be toxic avengers. my man davy is filming and editing. it looks super sick. all shot in super8 and the soundtrack is awesome. skating is awesome. lotta fresh young talent killing it in the streets. so naturally, i have to step it up for the packaging, artwork and everything else.

layout is a 4-panel digipak 5x7. the thick cardboard joint with the plastic inlay inside and a foldout poster. it will be laid out basically like this. i have most of the front cover done, but i'm not going to preview the any of dvd artwork before the premieres. but it is looking pretty dope i can tell you that. i do have a super rough concept draft of the basic logo though:

the final version is gonna be tweeked a little more with all kinds of like toxic waste barrels and nuclear silos and all types of shit. but this is gonna be the general feel of the text.

in addition to all the print work and packaging, i'm also doing all of the on-screen stuff aka dvd menus, titles and credits. this project is definitely consuming my life pretty heavily. well that and jamesons. but what else is new.

we were originally doing the premiere for the video at the clairidge theater on bloomfield ave in montclair, but they gave us a date and then pushed it back a month so we scratched it. instead we are going to do a series of premieres at five different places. i just sent out the artwork for this ad which will be in the upcoming issue of focus.

(colors are slightly off on this because its a copy of the actual print version and doesn't show up in true form on normal monitors)

so needless to say, i've been a busy boy. i'm also trying to finish up lunch, dinner and take-out menus for the avenue bistro in clifton but i'm still waiting for some more info from them. next projects are going to be some business cards for tara (see above), possibly stickers for fleshtemple if madden and pete can get me logos and whatever i need and then my own website because i need to start really grinding and getting my name out there and stop stressing over silly little things in my life. word the fuck up.

if you never heard of division east, get a fucking clue. anyways, my man dave just helped design a brand new skatepark at jesse allen park in newark. him and the guys did a demo this week and gave out some DE t-shirts and stickers to the kids. he even got to hang out with the mayor.

ladies and gentlemen.. may i present to you.. unquestionably the most budget flyer that i have ever done in my entire life:

my man dave from DE hit me up for this yesterday, which he needed on the fly. it's not for print, thank god. i was gonna do it last night, but instead found myself shit drunk and unable to do anything functionable (big surprise). i woke up about an hour before i had to be at work and immediately said "fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck". so i jumped onto my laptop and made this embarassing online flyer in about 7 minutes.

now some people might look at this flyer and wonder if that $200 is a typo. and no, it's not a typo. these are a limited-edition release and i've seen them online for $250 in some places. and some people might ask, who the FUCK would pay $200 or $250 for sneakers. and i would answer them, smart people who will never take them out of the box, and then turn around and sell them on ebay in 6 months or a year for double or triple the price. and trust me, that happens. when nike puts out some limited-edition shit like this, kids line up around the block and wait for the skateshop to open just for that reason.

as most of you know, i do a lot of design work for division east skateshop in montclair. if you aren't familiar, check out the shop sometime - 460 bloomfield ave.

to date, i've done a handful of full-page magazine ads (color and b/w) for focus, the aquarian and others. i've done dozens of flyers which i always post here and on facebook/myspace. i did one sticker (and i have some others in the works). i've done a deck (also more on the way). i did graphics for the old website. i've done flash banners. i've done album artwork and layouts for CDs and DVDs. the only thing i haven't broke into yet is the t-shirt game. but that my friends is about to change. i just sent out the artwork for these on friday:
