untitled.

if you are in the design field, you undoubtedly know the usefulness and necessity of having a ton of good textures. they have so many different purposes and can turn something plain into something totally sweet with a simple place underneath a layer and a change in blending modes. along with my obsession with vintage flicks, posters, ads and all that, my other obsession most definitely lies with textures. i can never get enough, and i search far and wide to find as many as possible. you can really never have enough.

generally, i don't give away too many of my sources. especially when it comes to design resources. i look at it like this. i'm not going anywhere special to find my shit. they are all freely available on the web. i just dig and search and click on links upon links and sometimes get lost in the vortex of the internet for hours. and i find a lot of cool shit. anyone can find the things i find, they just need to have the patience and dedication. but today i'm in a good mood, so i'm going to give out a few things.

first, a couple links to some sweet websites where i download a lot of free hi-res textures:

circleboxtextures.com
lostandtaken.com

you can find some really cool stuff there if you need some background textures for design projects, or even if you want some dope flicks for your desktop background. i'm also going to do something that i've never done before. i'm going to give away some of my very own hi-res textures in the spirit of circlebox and lost and taken.

you can download all of them as a zip file here, or you can click on the thumbs below if you just want to download individual ones. i have so many of these and i will be giving out more for free in the future. i just have to organize the thousands of photos on my hard drive. anyway, enjoy and if you ever use them for anything, hit me up and show me what you did with them.

and while we are on the topic of design, check out some of that recent flyer game:

this voice or no voice show should be pretty wild in august. they are doing a video shoot at the end of the show, so make sure you get your ass down there and get your face in the video.

on a side note, my man gdp is on tour right now with pistol pete and daniel joseph. they started a blog with tour photos and words of wisdom from the road. check it out.

found this website today called threeframes.net. the name is pretty self-explanatory:

(these are all animated but for some reason, they don't seem to be working on here. but check out the site for the real versions along with a lot of others.)

also found this site which had a lot of funny shit:

but i digress. anyway, there's a family of stray cats that live underneath some huge trailer outside my building. i bought food for them and i feed them all the time. a mother and three rascally little kittens. they like to sneak up on me when i'm smoking cigarettes:

and finally some random weekend flicks:

yo she slapded that shit.

free is for me.

tell me about a party with free food or free booze and i am there. and not that i'm cheap, but what the fuck. why not? anyways, if you like hip-hop music, i'm about to bless you with a bunch of free music courtesy of division east records and slangcorp. if you don't like hip-hop that's fine too. hopefully we will have some free punk and metal downloads available soon. and if you're expecting to hear some fake gangsters talking about shit they pretend to own, then just turn around now, because this is real hip-hop. dirty jersey style. no corporate-sponsored commercial MTV bullshit.

everything here is available on the DE records blog or at the slangcorp website, but i'm going to make it super convenient for you to just download them here. just click the flicks to download.

there is always new stuff coming out and there are tons of shows going on, especially now that it's summer time. if you like what you hear, come out and support the artists. support the underground. for upcoming events and shows, check back here, or check the division east records blog. also check out the myspace. we do big things. come do them with us.

mid-june will the GDP & Daniel Joseph 2009 tour kickoff jam at the DE warehouse. There will be a flyer circulating in the near future. that one's gonna be ridiculous so stay tuned.
